How to choose the right brand photographer for you
Welcome to the world of brand photography! I know you’re here because you’re interested in having some pictures taken for your brand. Trouble is, where do you start looking and how do you choose a photographer that’s right for you? Well, in today’s post, I’m going to be offering some advice on how to choose the right brand photographer for you. Let’s get into it.

Photographic Style
Firstly, I think the main factor in picking someone that’s right for you is the style of their work. It’s the main reason you’re hiring them – to take awesome pictures of you in their unique way. Take a look at their website and see how they’ve displayed their work on their gallery pages, any portfolio pages and on their blog. Editing style is also really important as each photographer has a different way of processing their photos after a shoot. Are you looking for someone who’s editing style is quite light and airy? Colourful? Moody? Earthy? You’ll know what style you like once you see it. One thing you don’t want to do, is ask a photographer to edit like someone else because they will not take to that kindly.

Checking out their social media is important too, if they’re updating it regularly, you can see fresh work and find out more about their personality which brings me onto my next point.
Personality
The second factor you want to consider when choosing the right photographer for you is their personality. You want to be around someone you get on with. Booking a brand shoot is a collaborative project so you’ll be communicating with your photographer in the pre-production stage, on the shoot day and after your session too. With this being said, you want to choose someone you like and gel with because you’ll be spending a decent amount of time with them. Some great ways to get to know someone before committing to a shoot is to watch videos of them (either on their website or socials), check out their social media (see if there’s any talking to stories or personal things they’re sharing) or get on a call with them to see what they’re like. Their online presence should be a testament to how your images will turn out. If they’re putting themselves out there for you to get to know, this is a great indicator for you to make a decision about who you might work with. Another good thing to do is read testimonials from real clients. Get onto Google and check out their reviews.

Once you’ve gotten to know them a bit better and seen their work, ultimately it now comes down to one last thing.
Price
Finally, the price has to be right. We all have budgets for certain aspects of our businesses (and lives) so naturally, the price the photographer is charging needs to suit you too. I will say this, it’s an investment hiring a professional photographer (for many reasons which I may detail in another post) so if your budget doesn’t match what they’re charging, put a pin in it and come back to them if/when your budget increases. Be polite in your response once they’ve sent you a quote, don’t tell them they’re too expensive. It’s likely that they’ve worked really hard to get to where they are today and invested a lot of time, money and energy into building their businesses. Think about it like this, you wouldn’t go into Dior and tell them that their bags are too expensive. They’re just not in your budget.

And that concludes this weeks post! I hope this has helped you choose the right brand photographer for you.
