Being a business owner, you are constantly learnin Being a business owner, you are constantly learning. About yourself, about other people, about the world, about business. And inevitably, because we’re human - we make mistakes along the way. That’s a part of life. There have been a couple of big ones for me - general business slip-ups and a few which revolve around finances. Maths was never my best subject at school - which won’t come as a shock to you, what with me being a creative. But, here’s what I’ve learnt along the way: • Get an accountant. As soon as you possibly can. If that side of your business is not your bag, outsource it. Game-changer. • Put your prices up. If you’re booking clients at the price you’re at now and comfortably, it’s time to raise your rates. • Invest in the right courses. Not every course, only the ones that are going to help drive your business forward. Keep investing in your learning. But stay in your lane. • Not everyone is going to like you and you have to be okay with that. • Stop spending your money on stuff you don’t need. But if you are going to part with your cash, buy second-hand. • You don’t have to work with everyone that finds their way in your inbox. Yes, money is money, but stress is also stress.
