If you are a time-starved business owner who needs fresh, updated images of yourself to market your business, this blog post is for you.
I first launched mini brand shoots in 2021 to help;
By creating these sessions, I was able to help those mentioned above create professional looking images that showcase their personalities in just 45 minutes. Let’s take a look at some previous mini brand shoots to show you the variety of locations and poses used to help each client stand out.
Clients were able to pick their favourites from a gallery of 45 images so they had a big variety of images to choose from. This is a snippet from Allie’s session. Her brand colour palette featured a lot of neutrals like pale pink, sage green, grey and white. Nature heavily influences her work so I really wanted to capture some of London’s greenery in her images too while she remained the focus.
Louisa was my second session of the day in Notting Hill. Her colour palette also featured a lot of neutral tones and I knew in advance what she was going to wear. This helped me map out the locations I wanted to take her that would compliment her outfit. She had got to Notting Hill early and decided to do some work in a cafe before her session which is where I met her.
Both of these sessions were shot on the same day in the same area of London. Although a lot of the locations are the same, they work for each business owner in different ways. A lot of colour theory work goes into producing a photoshoot. Choosing the right clothing has a big part to play, you want to make sure you’re on brand and that the colours & patterns you choose compliment your hair and skin tone too. Having this info in advance is really useful to me so I can pick out locations that will compliment as well.
Jo kicked off my Shoreditch mini sessions. Her colour palette featured a lot of bold, bright, vibrant colours so Shoreditch was the perfect option for her. There’s also a lot of textures in Shoreditch which make for great backdrops. She’s a copywriter so we got some images of her writing in her notebook as well as lots of portraits for her to use across her social platforms and website.
Océane was my second Shoreditch session of the day. She runs a company called Papergraphie so it was really important to capture some images of Océane drawing and her colourful notebook alongside some updated portraits.
My last session of the day was with the lovely Beth. Beth’s worked with me 3 times now and we always have so much fun on her sessions. She’s a coach and needed lots of new, colourful portraits for her website and social content.
The last day of my mini sessions were based in King’s Cross. King’s Cross is such a great area for portraits as it has many different backdrops on offer. There’s a cool, industrial vibe going on in one part of the area, which contrasts nicely with some of the green spaces and there’s also a modern, funky vibe happening too. Alison chose this location and it suited her perfectly. She wore earthy colours that were also featured in the surroundings making everything look cohesive. She switched up her green blazer with a denim jacket to have a mix of smart and casual images. Switching out a jacket is a quick and easy way to change up an outfit without having to get fully changed.
Tammy was my last session of the day and wanted to promote the release of her new book. During her session, I made sure to capture the book on different backdrops so she had a variety of images to choose from. She also wanted some updated portraits and these were her selection.
Hopefully this post has made you see how to get a variety of images in just 45 minutes. Also, the biggest thing that will make your images differ from someone else’s is YOU. Your clothes, your appearance, your expressions – all of these things make your images totally bespoke to you regardless of them being shot in the same location as another business owner.
I hope this has been useful to see and possibly encourages you to book your own mini session in too. I’m launching my Autumn mini sessions in October and the waitlist will get priority booking. If you’d like to be first in the queue to hear about them, please sign up to the list here.
Thanks for making it this far and be sure to check out my other handy blog posts about personal branding photography here on the blog. If you want to keep up with my day-to-day ramblings, you can follow me on Insta here.
